Guitar Scale Mastery Review
Hello again, acoustic guitar enthusiasts!
Today I thought I’d give you some info about a program I just learned of: “Guitar Scale Mastery” by Craig Bassett.
This program gives in-depth scale training for the serious guitar student. Yes, you can start from scratch with this powerful resource, but you’ll have to learn to read guitar tablature first. It only makes sense: when it comes to learning guitar playing techniques from a teacher remotely, only tablature combines timing information with fret and finger position information so you get a complete picture. If you’re not willing to learn tabs, then don’t buy this lesson membership because you wouldn’t want to actually practice your scales, which would make this resource a total waste of your money.
But if you are ready to work at guitar scale mastery exercises, and you’re hungry to get really good at guitar, then you may have found a goldmine of a resource here!
First off, though, let’s examine the pricing.
What Does It Cost, and Is It a Good Deal?
Craig sells Guitar Scale Mastery as a membership for three years at a total (up-front) cost of $67 (USD). This comes out to just under $1.87 per month. Compared to lessons from a local teacher, that’s somewhere around a 95% discount or better! Additionally, while the local teacher can see your work and give you feedback, at that price point, you’re getting someone just barely better than you. You’d likely get just about as much feedback just recording (or videoing) yourself playing, and self-assessing. If you want a real pro as a face-to-face teacher, you’ll pay real pro prices, and that’s almost always north of $100 per month. (My favorite studio guitarist that I hire is $75/hour with a two-hour minimum.) So Craig’s not kidding: his pricing is better than fair. If you can’t afford $1.87 per month, you’re not serious about learning guitar at all.
Next, What Does Guitar Scale Mastery Teach?
Here are some of the benefits of this program as Craig explains them. See if this appeals to you:
• You will be able to learn scales on such a deep level that they “become part of you”.
• You will be able to use scales without thinking.
• You will be able to improvise with scales no matter where you are on the fretboard.
• You’ll feel much more confident as an improvising guitarist.
• You’ll notice large improvements to your guitar technique, speed and fluidity.
• You’ll solo in a more natural and musical way.
• You’ll feel more confident jamming with other musicians.
As a studio player myself, I can tell you without equivocation that knowledge of scales, and the abilities listed above with regard to scales, are absolutely crucial, foundational material for anyone and everyone who ever wants to excel at any instrument. If you don’t have your scales down, you cannot be a true pro (even if you’re getting money for playing) because sooner or later, you’ll encounter something out of your depth, and you’ll make an absolute fool of yourself. I’ve seen it happen, more than once. It never happened to me because I have my own “guitar scale mastery” down, so to speak. I just make clients happy no matter what I’m asked to do. You can too.
In other words, the benefits Craig promises you from his program are exactly what you need to succeed. Without them, you can’t.
So, does Guitar Scale Mastery actually deliver the goods?
I believe it does, but only you can be the judge of that for yourself.
The cool thing is, you have no risk. Believe me, you’ll know whether this program is for you within a week — you won’t need 60 days — so that’s more than enough time to evaluate Craig’s program and see if it meets your needs.
